Andie MacDowell is keeping the trend of sky-high style in a glittering gown and platform sandals with a generous heel on the red carpet during the Cannes Film Festival on May 24.
The “Groundhog Day” actress attended the premiere of “The Most Precious of Cargoes” in a silver and gold embellished column gown featuring drapey sleeves with ornate embroidery. She wore platform Prada sandals with a chunky block heel measuring nearly 5 inches tall.
The peep-toe style featured a lustrous gold-tone satin finish with a thick toe strap adorned with the brand’s signature triangle logo plaque. A slim ankle strap crossed at the back and fastened with an adjustable metal buckle completed the look.
Prada’s platform logo-plaque sandals are available in various colors and finishes, including silver metallic leather and black velvet. The silver metallic style currently retails for $1,420 on Prada’s website.
On Thursday, MacDowell wore a chic black jumpsuit with sleek pointed pumps crafted in supple leather for the star-studded annual Cannes amfAR Gala. She was also seen hitting the streets in a more casual look complete with silver metallic loafers.
Throughout her long-standing career, the “Four Weddings and a Funeral” actress has made many notable fashion appearances. Whether attending a premiere or sitting in the front row at a fashion show, she has assembled memorable ensembles. Over the years, she has demonstrated a willingness to take fashion risks by wearing bold prints and unique designs. For example, at the 1998 Cannes Film Festival, she paired an ethereal periwinkle dress with matching strappy sandals. At the New York City premiere of her movie “Michael” in 1996, she showcased an Anna Sui dress designed with butterfly wings.
The 77th annual Cannes Film Festival started on May 14 and closes on Saturday, May 25. The festival showcases a selection of international films, celebrates cinematic achievements and fosters global film culture.
