Anderson Cooper, Fellow ‘Jeopardy! Power Players’ Don’t Know Who NFL MVP Cam Newton Is

It’s Power Players week on Jeopardy!, and nothing says power like three journalism heavyweights. Tuesday’s episode featured CBS chief foreign affairs correspondent Lara Logan, MSNBC political analyst Michael Steele, and CNN anchor Anderson Cooper. All were competing for various charities, and all are very intelligent individuals. Except when it comes to sports.

When asked a question about NFL MVP Cam Newton, the entire group seized up. Alex Trebek asked the question, “The Carolina Panther who was the first NFL rookie to pass for over 4,000 yards.” The three looked at each other and proceeded to chime in, “We don’t do sports,” as the time for the question expired. Just for some context, Cooper has won an Emmy and a Peabody, Steele is a former lieutenant governor, and Logan has a dozen-plus journalism awards. Thankfully, the sage Trebek was willing to bail them out. “Then I will help you,” the host offered. “It’s Cam Newton.”
