Ana Navarro fires back after magazine calls out 'expensive' wedding registry

Frequent CNN and The View contributor Ana Navarro married lobbyist Al Cardenas over the weekend and immediately faced criticism over items on her wedding registry.

Not long after talking about her nuptials on The View Tuesday, an article was published in the Washington Examiner calling out the price point on some of the gifts the pair registered for.

“Among the gifts people bought the couple were ‘Michael Aram Palm Cocktail Napkin Holders’ ($65), ‘sustainably sourced’ striped pool towels at $39.50, a dozen ‘Villeroy & Boch Buffet Plate Mandarin Chargers’ ($89.99 each), three ‘Squared Zen Melamine Large Green Leaf Platter’ ($46 each) and a “Bedgear Dri-Tec King Sheet Set” at $248.99,” the article read. “The most expensive item still visible was a tall black “Pedestal Planter” at $379 and Macy’s tableware totaled $6328.08.”

Navarro fired back on Twitter to call out inaccuracies in the article, like claims that Senator Bob Menendez was in attendance and that they sold the rights to the wedding. She also took issue with the registry shaming.

Readers on Twitter reacted as well, with many coming to Navarro’s defense.

Navarro said on Tuesday that her wedding “felt perfect,” and she did not further address the Examiner article on Wednesday’s The View.

To be surrounded by people I like and who like me, I loved to feel the support,” Navarro said of her wedding. “I was humbled by people who traveled from all over the country, and all over the world, to be with us.”
