, which is only her first film. Schumer thanked Apatow for buying her an omelet during the meeting, where she realized he was “just a comic and I could manipulate him into making a movie with me.” She then went on for nearly six minutes, laboriously thanking managers and writers and interspersing jokes with “blah, blah, blah.” Then, just as the music cued for her exit, she adopted a more sentimental than serious tone. She thanked her sister profusely, said a sweet hello to her new boyfriend Ben, and then honored “Mayci Breaux and Jillian Johnson who died in Lafayette [Louisiana] because a mentally ill person got their hands on a gun, but we can end gun violence together.”In the second half of the show, she beat out Tina Fey, Melissa McCarthy, Lily Tomlin, and her BFF Jennifer Lawrence for Best Actress in a Comedy. Having used all of her best and worst material in her previous speech, she mostly went on about how much she loves her sister, which was really heartfelt and sweet.
