Amy Schumer Shares Health Update Following Recent Diagnosis

Amy Schumer is filling fans in on her battle with Cushing syndrome.
The actress and comedian revealed that she had been diagnosed with the hormonal disorder in Jessica Yellin's News Not Noise newsletter, initially published on Friday, Feb. 23.
"It has been a crazy couple weeks for me and my family. Aside from fears about my health, I also had to be on camera having the internet chime in," Schumer shared at the time, recalling how her journey to a diagnosis started when the 42-year-old began receiving unsolicited comments about her face while on a promotional tour for Life & Beth Season 2.
"But thank God for that. Because that's how I realized something was wrong," she explained.
"While I was doing press on camera for my Hulu show, I was also in MRI machines four hours at a time, having my veins shut down from the amount of blood drawn and thinking I may not be around to see my son grow up," Schumer continued, "So finding out I have the kind of Cushing that will just work itself out and I'm healthy was the greatest news imaginable."
Now, Schumer is sharing even finer news.
"I'm feeling better," she said while speaking with ET at Variety's Power of Women New York event presented by Lifetime on Thursday. "I still have this Cushing syndrome, but you just have to wait for the steroids to work through your system. I feel a lot better. They're not all the way through, but I feel a lot stronger and proud to be here."
Symptoms of Cushing syndrome–a condition that happens when the body produces too much of the hormone cortisol over an extended period–can include weight gain, a round face, increased fat around the base of the neck, easy bruising and weak muscles, among others. Although the condition can triggered by certain medications, prolonged periods of stress can also be the culprit.
