Amy Schumer hospitalized with 'horrible kidney infection,' shares 'sexy as hell' photo

Amy Schumer isn’t feeling very pretty today.

The comedian shared on social media Friday that she has been hospitalized all week with a “horrible kidney infection.” Her post included some “sexy as hell” photos from her sick bed, which, of course, weren’t sexy at all. She had IVs, comfy clothes, the unamused expression of someone who just wants to get better but hasn’t yet.

Here’s what I’ve been up to this week. I was hospitalized for 5 days with a horrible kidney infection. I want to give a big thank you to the doctors, the bad ass nurses also my husband who’s name is, i want to say, Chris? and my sisters Kimby and mol who have been by my side the whole time. I wanted to share this with you because this is sexy as hell but mostly because I was meant to go to London for the opening of I Feel Pretty and my doctors have told me that’s a no go. I’m really disappointed selfishly to miss this trip because I love London and Europe in general and all the great people (food) there. But I need to put my health first. I am so grateful for all the support the movie is getting. I hope people check it out in England and everywhere else in the world. It’s sweet and fun and you will walk out feeling better. Which is something I hope to feel soon too.

Schumer used the post to also announce that she’ll be missing the U.K. premiere of her much discussed film I Feel Pretty on May 4. “I need to put my health first,” she noted.

The good news is she’s surrounded by loved ones, including her new husband, Chris Fischer.

This is the first time she has let on that she is so sick. Her typical social media flow continued this week: She promoted her film on her pages, posted a #TBT photo of her toothless grin as a kid, and even cheerily urged her followers to read Ronan Farrow’s new book.

Early Friday, a new clip promoting her SuperSoul Conversations interview with Oprah Winfrey — in which Schumer talked about being a victim of sexual assault and having an abusive ex-boyfriend — circulated on the web.

This isn’t the first time Schumer’s health put her out of commission for work. When she was shooting Snatched with Goldie Hawn in 2016, a bout with bronchitis forced her to go to the hospital. Production of the comedy was shut down for a week so that she could recuperate from her illness and exhaustion.
