Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes are getting candid about the timeline of their relationship.

The former GMA3: What You Need to Know co-anchors, who released the first episode of their iHeartRadio podcast called Amy & T.J., revealed that they had each had been living separately from their respective former spouses before the news of their relationship became public.

“Nov. 30, 2022, was the day that we were, and this is very important we were outed… To be clear, we were outed as being in a relationship, but everyone else thought we were being outed as adulterers — being outed as cheating on our spouses — and it wasn’t the case because the odd thing is, the day those pictures were taken and the day that article was released, we both at that point were in divorce proceedings," Holmes, 46, said.

“Yes, we had attorneys, mediators. We were in the middle of divorces,” Robach, 50, added.

She went on to say that her ex-husband, Andrew Shue, 56, “had already moved out of the house” three months before the first photo was taken of her and Holmes together on Nov. 10. Robach noted that she had already stopped wearing her ring “in early August” and “everyone" in her "tight circle knew that I was getting divorced.” She added that Holmes “is a more private person” and “chose to keep” that information to himself.

He said on the podcast that he had “been living alone” without ex-wife Marilee Fiebig, 45, since the summer, and the first photographs taken of him leaving a building was not where he “shared a home” with her. However, the former anchor also conceded that he believes they made some mistakes with the way they handled things.

“We shouldn’t have allowed, [and] I can say that in hindsight, for folks to find out about our relationship before they found out about our divorces,” he admitted. “If people would have heard [about the divorces] earlier [then] ‘they’re in a relationship, now they’re dating,’ maybe an eyebrow would have been raised or something, but it wouldn’t have become what it became.”

“My daughter, I mean she’s 10. I was trying to get her adjusted to the idea of her parents not being together,” he continued. “And I had been working on that for the past three, four months. So, I didn't want to spring on her that early, ‘Oh by the way, that Amy Robach that you've known since you were 1, well I’m dating her now’ … I hadn’t even told my mom about the divorce, so why the hell am I thinking about telling an executive at the network about it?”

“In hindsight sure, I mean we screwed up,” he added. Though the couple noted that they had already prepared a draft statement on Nov. 30 about the news of their divorces and current relationship “which were never released.”

“We thought we were protecting our children and our families,” Robach said. “And we thought we had time and we thought we had a right to privacy and maybe that was foolish and silly?”

“I always used to say that doing what we did we had a beautiful amount of fame. It was just enough to be fun and it wasn’t too much to be where you felt like you were followed everywhere… I just didn’t think that anyone would care that much. I didn’t think it would be that big of a deal," she added.

Holmes and his ex Fiebig, settled their divorce in December 2022, just weeks after news of his and Robach's relationship went public. Robach also finalized her divorce with actor Shue, 56, in March, per Page Six.
