The social media shout-out came after Robach discussed how her parents supported her amid the fallout of her relationship with T.J. Holmes becoming public on their new podcast Amy and T.J..

The broadcaster recalled that her parents were flying to New York when photos of her and Holmes cozying up together surfaced  in November 2022. At the time, Robach had not confirmed her separation from her actor husband Andrew Shue, nor Holmes with his attorney wife Marilee Fiebig.

“I remember thinking, Oh my God, I have my parents coming to town — and they were in the air when this dropped — so I'm trying to text them while they're on the plane to say please don't believe everything you're reading,” she shared. “Please let me talk to you when you land.”

“I was actually so afraid of my parents and what they were going to think and what they were going to experience,” she added. “I knew we were going to be splashed all over New York papers, walking by newsstands, it was just going to be one of those moments where I didn't want my parents in the city with all of this happening.”

Despite her reservations before her parents’ arrival, Robach admitted it turned out to be “one of the most amazing things to have happened.”

“They were supporting me. They asked me what they could do,” she explained. “They were my lifeline in that moment because my whole world fell apart.”

She continued: “It's so hard to think about just going through a divorce publicly. But now to have all of these accusations and all of these pictures and trying to explain what was actually happening versus what people said was happening. It was awful, and they were amazing and they got me through those first few days.”

Since then, Robach and Holmes have become more comfortable showcasing their relationship publicly, with many of their romantic outings occurring both at home and abroad. Last weekend, Robach and Holmes made their red carpet debut as a couple at iHeartRadio's Jingle Ball 2023.
