The series revolves around Dr. Max Goodwin, who becomes the new medical director of America’s oldest public hospital. He breaks systemic rules and tries to tear up the bureaucracy to provide exceptional care to his patients.

There’s some bad news for the loyal New Amsterdam fans. Season 6 of the popular series will not be released and the show will end with the five seasons. NBC had earlier announced that the fifth season would be the final installment of the widely loved medical drama.
It is highly unlikely that the series will ever receive a renewal for the specific storyline. Considering the characters and the story got closure, viewers will have to bid goodbye to the show after its five-season run. The series was renewed for three more seasons in 2020 and NBC opted for a shortened final season 5. The COVID-19 pandemic and the declined ratings are some of the listed reasons for the series’ demise.
Although the show is over, fans can stream all five seasons on Netflix as of now.
