Watch a Soldier Meet Cute with an Iraqi Girl in an Exclusive Trailer for 'Amira & Sam'
In most romantic comedies, the two central characters start out either as foes or at least indifferent to the idea of love — like the leads in When Harry Met Sally. The trailer for Amira & Sam, seen here exclusively on Yahoo Movies, offers that same initial adversarial friction between its featured couple. But Amira is no Sally.
Martin Starr (Freaks & Geeks and Silicon Valley) plays Sam, an army vet adjusting to civilian life after a long stint overseas. He meets Amira (newcomer Dina Shihabi) when he reconnects with his unit’s Iraqi translator in New York. As his war pal’s niece, Amira is instantly suspicious of soldiers and feels the same toward Sam. But she winds up needing his help when she runs into immigration trouble.
As their affection blooms, will the two be able to stay together? Find out when Amira & Sam enters select theaters and becomes available on VOD on Jan. 30.
