‘America's Funniest Home Videos’: Why Alfonso Ribeiro Isn't Nervous About Hosting

Put on some Tom Jones and do the Carlton, because The Fresh Prince of Bel Air‘s Alfonso Ribeiro is coming back to TV as the new host of America’s Funniest Home Videos.

Alfonso was passed the baton on national television when Tom Bergeron announced the news last season on Dancing With The Stars, when Ribeiro won the mirrorball trophy. But hosting a beloved series that’s now entering its 26th season has to be nerve-wracking, right? Well, Alfonso tells Yahoo TV that he actually isn’t nervous at all, as it was Bergeron himself who asked him to takeover hosting duties on AFV.

“Taking over for Tom is certainly a difficult job, but one that I am not nervous about,” he says. “The one thing we’ve talked about is that Tom wanted me to be the guy to replace him, to take over for him. There’s a lot of confidence in that.” Ribeiro says Tom also gave him some sage advice: “What he said to me is simply: Be you. Just do what you’ve been doing and you’ll be perfect.”

America’s Funniest Home Videos airs Sundays at 7 p.m. on ABC.
