American Rust Sets Season 2 Release Date on Prime Video — Plus, Watch Official Trailer

We’d understand if you were a bit rusty on what’s going on with American Rust. After all, the drama starring Maura Tierney and Jeff Daniels hasn’t aired since 2021.

But good news: American Rust now has a Season 2 release date: Thursday, March 28, TVLine has learned. Where will it air? That’s a little more complicated.

Fans will recall that the series’ first season was broadcast on Showtime, which cancelled the show three months after its finale. In June 2022, Amazon’s Freevee announced that it had picked up American Rust for Season 2.

But Season 2 — which is billed as American Rust: Broken Justice — now will stream on Prime Video instead. All 10 episodes of the sophomore run will drop on the day of its release.

The streamer also released the sophomore run’s official trailer Monday, which you can now watch embedded above.

The coming season is once more set in Buell, Penn., where Daniels’ Del Harris and Tierney’s Grace Poe “try to rebuild their lives after the harrowing events of Season 1,” the official logline reads. The action gets underway when the town experiences a bunch of “seemingly unrelated murders,” the synopsis continues, “hinting at a much larger conspiracy that threatens everyone in this small, tight-knit town.”

In addition to Tierney and Daniels, the returning cast includes Mark Pellegrino, Rob Yang, Kyle Beltran, Alex Neustaedter, Julia Mayorga and David Alvarez. Season 2 additions include Luna Lauren Velez (Dexter), Nick Sandow (Orange Is the New Black), Marc Menchaca (Ozark), Britian Seibert (A Murder at the End of the World), Amelia Workman (FBI), Christopher Denham (Billions), Leon Addison Brown (The Knick) and Sara Lindsey (High Desert).
