‘As An American, We All Need To Realize This Is Not Normal,’ Says Teen Survivor Of Florida Mass Shooting

In 2018, there have already been more than 15 school shootings, most recently, a mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, which has become the third worst school shooting in U.S. history. On February 14, 2018, Nikolas Cruz allegedly walked into his former high school with an AR-15 assault rifle and shot students and teachers, killing 17 and wounding many others.

The teen survivors at the school say they are determined to make changes, so no other kids have to endure a similar horrific event.

“As an American, we all need to realize this is not normal. We can’t accept this,” 17-year-old David tells Dr. Phil on Thursday’s episode. “We have to take action so we prevent as many as possible from happening again. I don’t think it needs to be a political thing; I think it needs to be something about lives.”

In the video above, Dr. Phil offers his thoughts on how we can come together as a community to find solutions and prevent tragedies.
