'American Pie' singer-songwriter Don McLean scheduled to perform in Warren on Saturday

WARREN — Singer-songwriter Don McLean will perform in Warren on Nov. 11.

The concert will be at the Struthers Library Theatre, 302 W. 3rd Ave., at 8 p.m.

McLean is best known for "American Pie," his song about "the day the music died" with the plane crash deaths of Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and "The Big Bopper" J.P. Richardson in 1959.

The song topped American music charts for four weeks in 1972, was nominated for four Grammy awards and was named No. 5 among the Recording Industry of America Association's Top Songs of the 20th Century. It's also been featured in the films "Black Widow" and "Finch."

McLean's other hit songs include "Vincent" and "Castles in the Air."

McLean is a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame and is the recipient of a BBC Lifetime Achievement Award. His songs have been recorded by top artists including Madonn and Garth Brooks.
