‘American Idol’: The Best Performance This Season
On Thursday’s American Idol, Sia mentored the remaining four singers. Each of them prepared one of Sia’s songs, choosing from the many hits that she’s written for herself and other artists.
Trent Harmon said, “I was such a fan of Sia going into this. To see her in the flesh is kinda like seeing a unicorn.” He had prepared to sing “Chandelier” in a lower register and hoped to impress Sia. Harmon said, “I love this song, and it’s a tough song to sing, but I’m really hoping to make Sia proud.”
But the elusive singer gave Harmon a few notes and urged him instead to push his range. He took the notes and in return gave the singer goosebumps.
Harmon gave a soulful performance of “Chandelier,” and the audience gave an uproarious applause. Harry Connick Jr. said he would give Harmon’s performance 100 out of 100.
American Idol airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. on Fox.
