Just Sam, a singer who won "American Idol" in 2020, has apparently returned to busking for money in the New York City subway.

The 24-year-old from Harlem, whose full name is Samantha Diaz, has shared multiple videos on Instagram of herself singing on a subway train and platforms with a donations box. During her time on "American Idol," the singer opened up about growing up in the projects and busking on trains.

As a result of the coronavirus pandemic, Season 3 of ABC's incarnation of the reality singing competition went remote midseason, as contestants sang while isolated. Just Sam celebrated her win during the season finale alone in a bedroom, holding an iPad with a family member on video chat.

She was so overwhelmed by the news of her win that she nearly dropped the tablet while her grandmother video-chatted in for the big moment.

During her audition, Just Sam became overwhelmed with emotion and asked the judges if she could perform her usual ritual before singing on the subway to help her feel more comfortable. The judges happily allowed it.

"Excuse me, ladies and gentlemen, I'm going to sing a quick song for you," she told judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie. "If you like what you hear, please feel free to give whatever you can. Thank you."

In her recent Instagram videos, Just Sam sings music by Beyoncé, Koryn Hawthorne and Adele.

"GOD IS IN CONTROL," she wrote in a comment on one of her posts.
