‘American Idol’ Narrowed Down to the Final Two Contestants

On Wednesday’s penultimate American Idol, judges narrowed the three remaining contestants down to two. Each sang a song they had written while awaiting the results. Finally, Ryan Seacrest announced that La’Porsha Renae and Trent Harmon had made it through to the finale. Despite being eliminated, Dalton Rapattoni joyously celebrated for his fellow contestants.

Then La’Porsha and Trent each gave two showstopping performances. Trent Harmon sang “If You Don’t Know Me By Now” by Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes. His second song was a powerful, stripped-down version of Sia’s “Chandelier.” Renae sang “A House is Not a Home.” However, her most powerful performance was Rihanna’s “Diamonds.”

The two will square off in the final episode of American Idol on Thursday at 8 p.m. on Fox.
