BRITTANY JONES-COOPER: Well yeah, I mean, you got started on "American Idol." You won last year. I would imagine, just in the last year, your life has been crazy. So what has been just, like, the biggest thing you've learned about the music industry or being a performer in just the last year?

LAINE HARDY: I think two of the biggest things for me would be not to give up and just keep chasing that goal that you got, and then just don't change who you are. And it's going to be hard. But at the end, it's going to be worth it.

BRITTANY JONES-COOPER: Yeah. And does it seem like a blur, all of it?

LAINE HARDY: It's all-- every question I've got, like, about the process and stuff, I've told them, like, a general idea because that's all I remember. But it's-- it was a blur. Like--

BRITTANY JONES-COOPER: Yeah.

LAINE HARDY: --I feel like it was yesterday. That's how it feels because--

BRITTANY JONES-COOPER: I can imagine. That's such a big stage. There's so much energy. You obviously weren't a part of that world before then, you know? Just had to be the biggest adjustment. I cannot even imagine.

LAINE HARDY: Yeah, from when Ryan Seacrest called my name to now, it's like, does time traveler or something-- because it feels like a second.
