‘American Horror Story’: Ryan Murphy Reveals New Detail About Evan Peters’ Character

Rest assured, Evan Peters fans: The actor will, in fact, make his season debut on this Wednesday night’s “American Horror Story: Roanoke.”

Co-creator Ryan Murphy tweeted the news on Wednesday afternoon, and in the process, debunked a popular fan theory about his character. “Evan Peters makes his season debut in tonight’s American Horror Story: Roanoke…and no, he’s not playing a producer,” he wrote.

Viewers had speculated that Peters’ character was on the show the whole time, but behind the camera. “Roanoke” differs from past seasons in that it’s shot in the format of a true-crime documentary; a male voice could be heard talking to interviewees at some point, vaguely sounding like the “AHS” vet.

With that theory ruled out, see below some other possibilities for Peters’ character:

Peters is a descendant of Edward Philippe Mott. As Denis O’Hare’s Dr. Elias Cunningham explained in “Chapter 4,” Mott built the house in 1792. Fans were quick to note that Mott shares a surname with Dandy Mott, Finn Wittrock’s character from “Freak Show.” Plus, as Cunningham recounted the house’s victims, Edward Philippe Mott was the only one not showed on screen. Murphy has long teased that “Roanoke” will connect to past seasons of “AHS” — could this be the major link that truly ties them all together?

Peters is a descendant of Edward Philippe Mott and Lady Gaga’s Wood Witch. This is similar to that last theory, but taken one step further. As first explored by TV Guide, we know that the Wood Witch has, well, human-like needs, which is why she so badly wanted to have sex with Cuba Gooding Jr.’s Matt. Could she have seduced Edward Philippe Mott and pro-created? We know that the spirits are able to take life during a six-day period in October. Does this mean they could also create life?

Peters is the piggy man. The half-naked man wearing a pig’s head has terrorized Matt and Shelby throughout “Roanoke,” and has ties going back all the way to the first season of “American Horror Story.” Fans have noted that the man we’ve seen has a similar body type to Peters, and also said an Instagram post he published contains what looks like a sculpture of the pig’s head. It’s worth pointing out, however, that the sculpture looks more like a dog’s head than a pig’s.

All will be revealed (hopefully) when the latest “American Horror Story” debuts Wednesday night at 10 p.m. ET/PT. Let us know your theories in the comments below.
