‘American Crime Story’ Season 2 Teaser: ‘The Assassination of Gianni Versace’ Opens With a Flutter

Ryan Murphy’s follow-up to FX’s Emmy-winning “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story” will explore gay fashion designer Gianni Versace’s unexpected murder on the steps of his Miami villa in 1997. Given that the first season captured a magic twist of scandal nostalgia and revisiting fuzzy memories from another angle, keeping the second season set in the 1990s is a shrewd move for Murphy. Fans of the captivating first season will be looking for Murphy to reproduce the now tried and true formula (with a few added thrills), and from the looks of the first teaser, he will not disappoint.

Sufficiently abstract and mysterious, the teaser hints at the glitz, glamour, and chills that “The Assassination of Gianni Versace” will deliver. Expect ornate, drool worthy sets, suspenseful storytelling, and a whole lot of fabulousness. Though there are no actors in this little morsel, the project has already attracted big name talent like Penelope Cruz, Ricky Martin, Edgar Ramirez, and Darren Criss.
