‘America’s Got Talent’ episode 15 recap: Which 2 acts topped America’s vote in ‘Qualifiers 2 Results’?

This week “America’s Got Talent” season 18 continued the second stage of the competition, known as “Qualifiers.” In this round, 55 acts are divided into five groups for five weeks of performances, all in the hopes of advancing to The Finals. While series judges Simon Cowell, Sofia Vergara, Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel are still around to offer their support and critique of the acts, the power is out of their hands and rests all in America’s vote. Only two acts from each of the five qualifying groups will win over America and earn a spot in the “AGT” finale.
In “Qualifiers 1” on August 22, Sofia’s Golden Buzzer singer Lavender Darcangelo and dog act Adrian Stoica & Hurricane were the two acts that America sent through to “The Finals.”

Tuesday’s “Qualifiers 2” featured encore performances by two Golden Buzzer acts: French dance group Murmuration selected by Howie and music act Chioma & The Atlanta Drum Academy chosen by Terry; as well as stand-up comedian Ahren Belisle, sword swallower Andrew Stanton, comic dancer Erica Coffelt, rock band Steel Panther, acrobatic trio Three G, magician Ryland Petty, and singers Alfie Andrew, Dani Kerr, and Sharpe Family Singers.

8:02 p.m. – During the recap of Tuesday night’s performances we were reminded that Howie and Simon thought Sharpe Family Singers were “a bit Cory” and picked the wrong song, but thought that the sisters of Three G “raised the bar” with their performance. Simon gave Erica his red X buzzer and thought Dani missed her chance at a moment, Sofia entertained Ahren’s flirting with her during his comedy set, and Howie urged America to vote for Ryland. In between acts, Sofia and Simon shared a face mirror while Howie unknowingly shared soft drinks with Heidi by drinking out of her cup instead of his own.
8:11 p.m. – The first results of the night was to narrow down the 11 acts to the top five. Terry pulled Chioma & The Atlanta Drum Academy and Dani forward first. Between the two, Chioma & The Atlanta Drum Academy placed within the top five and Dani was eliminated from the competition.
8:15 p.m. – Next Alfie and Sharpe Family Singers were pulled forward to learn that Alfie was still in the running, but the Sharpe family was going home.
8:17 p.m. – Between Andrew and Ahren, the act that placed in the top five was Ahren, while Andrew did not.
8:23 p.m. – This week the judges competed in “Name That Toot,” where Sofia was paired with True Villains and Heidi was paired with Sainted. in a competition to name the song that alum Ricardo Pace played making fart sounds with his hands. Among the songs was Heidi’s own song, but Team Sofia wasn’t able to remember the song name and so the score evened out at a 2-2 before Team Heidi won the tiebreaker by guessing “Don’t You Forget About Me” after just two toots.
8:28 p.m. – With only two spots remaining in the top five, Terry brought forward Three G and Ryland to reveal that America voted Ryland into the top five, but not Three G.
8:31 p.m. – Between the three remaining acts, Murmuration, Steel Panther, and Erica Coffelt, the one act that placed in the top five and still had a chance to advance to the finale was Murmuration.
8:38 p.m. – Before learning more results, AGT two-time champion Shin Lim made a return to the stage to show one of his iconic card magic routines for the audience. Shin has taken his act to new heights this year by leading his very own show at The Mirage in Vegas.
8:49 p.m. – It was time to learn which acts were voted among the top three for the week. Those there acts were Ahren, Chioma & The Atlanta Drum Academy, and Murmuration.
8:56 p.m. – In next week’s “Qualifiers 3” we’ll see performances from: Warrior Squad, Putri Ariani, Summer Rios, Barry Brewer Jr., MOS, Justin Jackson, Herwan Legaillard, Phil Wright & Parent Jam, Philip Bowen, Trigg Watson, and Mzansi Youth Choir.
8:57 p.m. – The first act to advance to “The Finals” from this week was Ahren.
8:59 p.m. – The second act to move on in the competition was Murmuration. That meant that Terry’s Golden Buzzer act Chioma & The Atlanta Drum Academy would be leaving the competition.
