‘America’s Got Talent’ episode 13 recap: Which 2 acts topped America’s vote in ‘Qualifiers 1 Results’?

This week “America’s Got Talent” season 18 advanced to the second stage of the competition, known as “Qualifiers.” In this round, 55 acts are divided into five groups for five weeks of performances, all in the hopes of advancing to The Finals. While series judges Simon Cowell, Sofia Vergara, Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel are still around to offer their support and critique of the acts, the power is out of their hands and rests all in America’s vote. Only two acts from each of the five qualifying groups will win over America and earn a spot in the “AGT” finale.
Qualifier 1, which aired live on NBC on August 22, featured encore performances by Heidi Klum‘s Golden Buzzer singer Lavender Darcangelo plus dog act Adrian Stoica & Hurricane, ventriloquist Brynn Cummings, dancer Lambros Garcia, stand-up Maureen Langan, dance troupe Oleksandr Leshchenko & Magic Innovation, singer Mitch Rossell, choir Sainted, the band True Villains, guitarist John Wines and danger act Ray Wold.

8:00 p.m. – At the top of the episode, Craig Robinson played piano as host Terry Crews made his entrance to the stage singing “A Thousand Miles.” Next, they pressed play on the clip reel from last night’s performances with exclusive added footage of the judges’ reactions to some of the acts. We saw Howie lean over to Heidi during True Villains to tell her that he “loves this” and Simon telling Sofia halfway through the episode that none of the acts so far made him think “wow.”
8:13 p.m. – The first set of results that Terry delivered was to announce the top 5. He brought forward Ray Wold & Mom and Brynn Cummings first. Between those two acts, Brynn placed in the top half and Ray was eliminated.
8:17 p.m. – Next, Terry brought forward John Wines and Oleksandr Leshchenko & Magic Innovation to announce that America sent home John, which meant that Oleksandr was still in the running to advance to the finale.
8:19 p.m. – Between Lambros Garcia and Lavender Darcangelo, the act that earned enough votes to remain in the competition for now was Lavender. That meant a final goodbye to Lambros.
8:26 p.m. – When True Villains and Mitch Rossell stepped forward together, its as to find out that Mitch was still in it and True Villains were eliminated.
8:28 p.m. – That revelation left only Sainted, Adrian Stoica & Hurricane, and Maureen Langan to learn of their fate in the competition. The final spot in the top 5 in America’s vote went to Adrian, leaving Sainted and Maureen as the next acts to be eliminated.
8:36 p.m. – Returning to the stage that helped make them famous, current stars playing in “AGT Presents Superstars Live” in Las Vegas joined forces for an all star megamix performance. It began with Kodi Lee singing “Song for You” while Aidan Bryant performed aerial tricks in his high-flying ring overhead. Then, The Pack Drumline came in for a segment followed by Human Fountains with their elegant water-spitting featuring Heidi joining in to spit water from her mouth to one of theirs and back again (Heidi ducked for cover). Light Balance closed out the performance with their colorful and energetic technical show.
8:49 p.m. – This week’s top 5 were brought back to the stage to find out which of them were still in the running to advance to The Finals. Based on America’s votes, the top 3 were Lavender, Mitch, and Adrian. That means we said goodbye to Brynn and Oleksandr.
8:56 p.m. – The 11 acts performing next week are: Howie’s Golden Buzzer act Murmuration, Steel Panther, Ryland, Sharpe Family Singers, Ahren Belisle, Dani Kerr, Andrew Stanton, Erica Coffelt, Alfie Andrew, Three G, and Terry’s Golden Buzzer act Chioma & the Atlanta Drum Academy.
8:57 p.m. – Last, Terry announced the two acts advancing to “The Finals.” They were Lavender Darcangelo and Adrian Stoica & Hurricane!
