Following up a hint Simon Cowell dropped a few weeks ago live on air, “America’s Got Talent” has now officially confirmed that it will debut its latest spin-off in 2024. The new series, titled “AGT: Fantasy League,” will feature Simon, Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, and the return of Mel B as “coaches” of four different fantasy teams of former “AGT” contestants in the ultimate fan favorite showdown. Terry Crews is slated to once again return for hosting duties.

The new spin-off will differ from previous ones — “All Stars,” “Champions” and “Extreme” — in that for the first time the judges will draft a roster of acts that they will compete alongside throughout the season, similar to the way a season of “The Voice” progresses. The judge/coach of the champion act will beat out his or her peers to also be named a winner. Along the way, each judge will have use of the iconic Golden Buzzer to send one of their own acts through to “The Finals” or to steal an act from another team.

So which acts will the judges have to choose from in the draft? An initial pool of acts that the judges can draft from will be created by the fans. Following the “AGT” season 18 finale, fans can suggest acts they want to see compete on “Fantasy League” via the “AGT” app and nominating their favorite picks from more than 60 acts.

Selections will be open to all “Got Talent” series throughout the world and any act, including former champions, can possibly be cast. A final list of 40 fan-suggested acts will be chosen as the “draft pool” and then each of the four judges will create a team of 10 in the hopes that one of their picks will be crowned the winner. The audience will vote each week to determine which performance advance to “The Finals” and ultimately which judge gets bragging rights as the winning mentor.

Simon hinted at the concept of the series a few weeks ago after former contestant Drake Milligan performed on one of the season 18 live episodes. At the time he told Drake that he may have the chance to compete again, as would other fan favorite acts like him. Season 18 of the hit summer series concludes in a two night finale airing September 26 and 27.

Mel B taking a seat back at the judges’ panel is a welcome surprise. The pop music legend hasn’t been in an “AGT” chair since season 13 when she vacated her seat the year before Terry took over as host from Tyra Banks. Mel’s seat was temporarily filled by single season judges Gabrielle Union and Julianne Hough before the current panel, which includes Simon, Howie, Heidi and Sofia Vergara, was put in place.
