The move comes as long serving EVP and communications boss Ellen Kroner will retire at the end of the year after a 19-year run. Juvelis and Maiella will take on their new duties at the beginning of 2017 and report directly to AMC Networks president and CEO Josh Sapan.

“She has been a trusted advisor to so many here and I know I speak for the entire company when I say that – while we congratulate her on this new chapter – we are profoundly sorry to see her leave AMC Networks,” Sapan said Thursday of Kroner’s forthcoming retirement. “The company’s dramatic growth and success has provided a dream narrative for a communicator,” Kroner herself noted “Georgia Juvelis and Jim Maiella have been important contributors to this narrative for some time, and I am confident that they will do a terrific job of leading Corporate Communications at AMC Networks.”

Coming from a gig as VP Communications for Gemstar-TV Guide, industry vet Juvelis joined AMC Networks back in 2008. Maiella came on board at AMC Networks three years ago after spending 10-years its sister company, the former Cablevision Systems Corporation. Prior to a career in PR, Maiella was a reporter at the LA Times and Newsday – which means mediaheads, he sometimes feels your pain.
