One Day is back. And this time, it's headed to the small screen.

In 2009, author David Nicholls released his book One Day, which followed Emma Morley and Dexter Mayhew, two friends (and maybe more?), for one day each year, allowing readers to see their relationship develop over many years. In 2011, Nicholls then wrote the screenplay for a film adaptation of his story, which starred Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess in the lead roles.

Now, more than a decade later, the same story is coming to Netflix as a limited series. From lead writer Nicole Taylor, One Day stars This Is Going to Hurt's Ambika Mod as Emma Morley and The White Lotus' Leo Woodall as Dexter Mayhew. Their tale kicks off on July 15, 1988, the night Emma and Dexter graduate, which also happens to be the first night they ever speak.

Across 14 episodes, the series will then follow their journey through the years, always checking in on July 15th. Netflix has released some adorable (and steamy) first-look photos from the upcoming series, which is set to premiere on February 8, 2024. Nicholls is on board as an executive producer.
