Amber Heard is staying active in Madrid.

On April 9, Heard, 37, was seen wearing matching navy blue running gear and out for a jog in Spain's capital city, where she has been living with her daughter Oonagh Paige since 2022. Her sighting comes months after her most recent film appearance in last year's Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, in which she reprised her role from the 2018 Aquaman movie.

Back in July 2023, a source told PEOPLE that Heard retreated from the public eye and eventually moved to Spain because she felt she “just had to get out of the U.S.” in the wake of her 2022 defamation trial with her ex-husband Johnny Depp. She settled down in Madrid some time after the trial's end, where "she gets more privacy," as a source told PEOPLE at the time.

Aside from the Aquaman sequel, Heard also appeared in the 2023 movie In the Fire; the pair of films made for her first film credits since her DC comic book character Mera appeared in Zack Snyder's Justice League back in 2021 and her first movies released since the trial.

Heard ultimately paid Depp a $1 million settlement in June 2023, which he then donated to five separate charities, closing the door on the defamation trial.

Heard appeared at the Taormina Film Festival in June 2023 for In the Fire's premiere. In October, the film's director Conor Allyn told PEOPLE that Heard is "living her best life in Spain with her daughter and just finding happiness in that way."

“I think people carry trauma for a long time," he said at the time. "Having gone through something like that on a global epic scale — you never just put that in a suitcase and stick in the attic and never see it again."
