Amber Heard Was Arrested for Domestic Violence in 2009 After Allegedly Striking Girlfriend Tasya van Ree: Report

Amber Heard was reportedly arrested for domestic violence against her then-girlfriend Tasya van Ree in 2009.

According to TMZ, Heard, 30, was arrested following an alleged altercation with van Ree at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. The actress allegedly grabbed and struck van Ree's arm, and was arrested and booked for misdemeanor domestic violence.

A rep for Heard did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment.

Reportedly, after Heard appeared in court the following day, the prosecutor decided not to proceed with the case. While the prosecutor declined to formally charge the actress, he warned her that they could reconsider and refile within the two-year statute of limitation period, according to TMZ.

Port of Seattle police reached by PEOPLE were not able to immediately confirm the arrest.

In an audio recording allegedly of the hearing obtained by TMZ, Heard is referred to by "Amber van Ree."

The actress legally changed her last name to van Ree in April 2008, and back to Heard four years later in April 2014.

Heard was granted a temporary restraining order against her estranged husband, Johnny Depp, on May 27 when the actress walked into a Los Angeles courthouse with a black eye and claimed that the actor had been both "verbally and physically abusive" to her throughout the "entirety" of their relationship.

In court documents responding to Heard's initial court filing, Depp's attorney Laura Wasser alleged that Heard "is attempting to secure a premature financial resolution by alleging abuse."
