Patriot has a new life at Amazon.
The retail giant/streaming service has renewed the scripted drama for a second season, the company announced Tuesday.
The series, about the unglamorous aspects of life as an intelligence officer, stars Michael Dorman, Terry O'Quinn, Kurtwood Smith and Michael Chernus. It premiered Feb. 24 to positive reviews, with The Hollywood Reporter's chief TV critic Tim Goodman calling it "a gem that should be uncovered."
Amazon, like fellow streamers Netflix and Hulu, does not report viewership results, with the show's overall performance a question mark. Patriot has a modest 68 score on Metacritic, with an 83 percent average on Rotten Tomatoes.
Season two will continue to be executive produced by creator Steven Conrad (who also writes and directs the series), James Parriott, Charles Gogolak and Gil Bellows as well as This Is Us duo Glenn Ficarra and John Requa. A return date and episode count were not immediately available.
Patriot joins an Amazon roster of originals already renewed for a likely 2018 return including Bosch, Castastrophe, Goliath and Sneaky Pete. The company recently handed out a two-season order to Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino's Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
