Amazon Takes on Netflix & Hulu with Standalone Streaming Service

Want to watch Transparent without the convenience of one-day shipping? Now you can! Amazon has just launched a standalone version of their video streaming service known as Prime Video, for which users will pay monthly to have access to their expansive library of TV and movies.

Formerly, Prime was $99 per year, couldn’t be cancelled until the year was over, and included Amazon’s ultra-fast shipping that arrived quicker than you could remember what you had ordered in the first place.

Now for $8.99 each month, subscribers will be able to watch Amazon originals like Transparent, Man in the High Castle, Catastrophe, Bosch, and Mozart in the Jungle, and cancel whenever they’re done binging those shows.

There’s also a $10.99 per month version that includes everything a yearly Prime account entails, such as their photo, music and shipping services, but costs an extra $32 per year in case you’d like to cancel it at some point.

With Netflix raising their per month cost to $9.99 later this year, will more cord-cutters jump to the slightly cheaper Amazon Prime Video? Well, that’ll come down to if you’re a Bloodliner, or are you a Bosch-amaniac? And for me, it’s all about that Bosch!
