Amazon is launching a huge sale for its Prime members this fall — and it sounds like it could be even better than Prime Day.

Amazon announced a brand new event: its first-ever Prime Big Deal Days. The two-day shopping extravaganza, which some are calling its October Prime Day, will begin on Tuesday, October 10 and end on Wednesday, October 11. Just like Prime Day, the sale will include impressive and exclusive deals for Prime members in Amazon’s massive deal hub.

Amazon’s Best Early Deals

Doug Herrington, the CEO of Amazon stores, revealed on LinkedIn that the sale will be hosted in 19 countries, and Prime subscribers should expect to see “some of Amazon’s best deals of the season.”

Last fall, Amazon held a similar event, its first Prime Early Access Sale, weeks before Black Friday. The two-day event offered steep discounts to its members, including deals on holiday gifts. And this upcoming sale will be similar: Shoppers can think of it as a Prime Day and early Black Friday hybrid event.

Amazon has hosted Prime Day every year since 2015, making this its ninth year with at least one member-only sale. This article will be updated as new information is released. Here’s everything we know about Prime Big Deals Day so far.

When is Prime Day 2023?

Amazon Prime Day 2023 will take place on July 11 and 12. The event typically falls around the time of its July 12 birthday, with the exception of Prime Day 2020, which was held in October. Prime Day takes place in the summer, and it almost always begins on a Tuesday and wraps up in the early hours on Thursday.

Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days event (nicknamed its October Prime Day) will run for 48 hours from October 10 to October 11.

What is Prime Day?

Amazon Prime Day is a two-day sale that features thousands of deals that are exclusively available for Amazon Prime members. The 48-hour event is a way for Amazon to reward its subscribers with special savings. Some of the markdowns will come with discounts that match or beat Black Friday offers, and there will be Amazon-exclusive products and deals that shoppers won’t find at other stores. And beyond deals on products, the online store often has deals on its Kindle subscriptions, streaming channels, and more.

And while the celebration focuses on the impressive savings for Prime subscribers, there will be deals available for all shoppers — even non-members. Those without a Prime membership can always sign up for a free 30-day trial of Prime to ensure that they can gain access to every Prime Day offer, among other perks like complimentary two-day shipping and discounts at Whole Foods.

Shoppers should expect to see some similarities for its first Prime Big Deal Days, including sales that are only for Prime members and steep discounts in every department.

What’s new this year?

Every year, Prime Day gets bigger and better, and its 2023 sale was no exception. For the first time ever, Amazon offered its members invite-only savings. The online store launched a new “Invite-Only Prime Deals” section where subscribers could browse an assortment of discounts that went live on Prime Day.

In every product listing, members were able to preview the Prime Day sale price and opt in by clicking the “request invite” button. Shoppers were required to be logged into a Prime account to see the button, but non-members were able to get these exclusive markdowns by signing up for a free 30-day trial of Prime

How long is Prime Day?

Prime Day is typically a 48-hour event. This year, it began on a Tuesday at midnight PT and ran through Thursday at midnight PT.

While the sale routinely runs over the course of two days, not all deals lasted that long. Many of the offers were only available for only 24 hours, and some were live for just a few hours or while supplies lasted.

How does Prime Day work?

All shoppers can head to Amazon.com/deals to browse the complete assortment of Prime Day deals. You’ll need to be signed into a Prime account to ensure that every discount appears when checking out, but don’t let that deter you from deal hunting. There will be plenty of deals for non-members too.

What is on sale on Amazon Prime Day?

Every department at Amazon offered savings on Prime Day, so whatever you’re looking for, it’s likely to be on sale. Given the steep discounts, it’s a great time to splurge on something you’ve been eyeing for a long time, like a Le Creuset Dutch oven, or treat yourself to that pricey new tech, like the latest Apple AirPods.

There were deals on everyday items, like paper towels, laundry detergent, and hand soap, making it an ideal time to replenish your pantry or supply closet. And there were deals on seasonal items too, like swimsuits, patio furniture, grills, and sandals.

Over the past couple of years, Amazon offered special back-to-school savings, which made Prime Day a great time to get laptops, headphones, notebooks, backpacks, and other college, dorm, and school must-haves.

This year, shoppers gravitated toward the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask, which rarely goes on sale. Other Prime Day best-sellers included Fire TV Sticks, Apple AirPods, and the Bissell Little Green Portable Deep Cleaner, according to Amazon.

For Amazon’s first Prime Big Deal Days, shoppers can expect similar discounts on electronics, tech, home goods, kitchen tools, fashion finds, and beauty products. But they can also expect there to be plenty of Black Friday-level deals on holiday gifts. Think of this as an opportunity to kickstart your holiday shopping and snag coveted items while they’re marked down — and before they sell out on Black Friday.

How often is Prime Day?

Prime Day is usually held once per year, but last year, Amazon hosted its first-ever Prime Early Access Savings event, which was nicknamed Prime Day 2 and October Prime Day. While it’s an entirely different event with its own array of deals and offers on holiday gifts, it’s another great time to score savings and get a head start on your holiday shopping.

Are there rival Prime Day sales?

Several popular retailers, like Target, Nordstrom, and Walmart, hosted sitewide sales that happened to be around the same time as Prime Day. Target Circle Week, which offered deals to members of its free Target Circle reward program, started on July 9 and ended on July 15.

Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale opened its early access sale to cardmembers with Nordy Club Icons status on July 11, followed by Ambassadors on July 12 and Influencers on July 13. Everyone else gained access to offers on Monday, July 17. And Walmart launched its Walmart+ Week with deals for its members on July 10. This promotion opened up to all shoppers on July 11.
