More from Variety

Released on Oct. 24, Spears’ “The Woman in Me” sold more than a million copies in its first week, according to publisher Gallery Books, ranking as the second-biggest book ever, following Prince Harry’s memoir, “Spare.”

Spears’ memoir generated plenty of headlines, and all the buzz helped to push the singer’s book straight to the top of Amazon’s bestsellers charts upon release (it’s still in the Top Ten, just behind Matthew Perry’s memoir).

Now, as part of Amazon’s Black Friday deals, you can get Spears’ book on sale for just $20 — a 37% discount off its list price of $32.99. The Britney memoir is available as a 288-page hardcover book, as well as an audiobook (read by actress Michelle Williams) and for Kindle.

Though Spears has written books before — including two with her mother, Lynne — this is her first official memoir and first official autobiography of any kind on the singer. Publisher Gallery Books (an imprint of Simon & Schuster) calls “The Woman in Me” a “brave and astonishingly moving story about freedom, fame, motherhood, survival, faith, and hope,” adding that “Spears’s groundbreaking book illuminates the enduring power of music and love—and the importance of a woman telling her own story, on her own terms, at last.”

Spears’ memoir was reportedly written over the last year or so, shortly after her 13-year-long conservatorship was terminated in 2021. Plans for the memoir were officially announced last year.

While leaked excerpts from the book have revealed stories about everything from the singer’s relationship with Justin Timberlake to her feelings towards her family, Spears insists that she isn’t out to get anyone with her tell-all. Instead, she says writing the book has been part of her healing process to allow her to finally move on with her life. “My book’s purpose was not to offend anyone by any means,” Spears wrote on social media. “Most of the book is from 20 years ago… I have moved on and it’s a beautiful clean slate from here!”
