As American pop-culture fixtures go, Marie Osmond belongs right up there with baseball and apple pie. Making her first television appearance at age four (!), Marie went on to be a household name, co-headlining two variety series, a smash Broadway show, and a long-running Vegas revue with her brother Donny.
She’s also a chart-topping pop- and country-music artist in her own right and has even tried her hand at opera. More recently, she’s tripped the light fantastic on Dancing with the Stars and served as a full-time panelist on The Talk.
Somewhere along the line, she found time to co-found the Children’s Miracle Network, which has raised nearly $7 billion for 170 children’s hospitals. Not bad for a life’s work, eh?
So, when she offered to clue us in on the things that have been lighting up her pandemic-restricted life, we were all ears. Scroll for her favorite products of late.
You may know Dolce Vita from its wide array of funky-yet-stylish bags, and now house slippers have joined the mix. Osmond has found that they make remote working and socializing feel just a little more cozy. “Especially doing Zoom things, you must have these slippers,” Osmond beams. “They’re not super expensive but, oh my gosh, they’re butter!”
How’s this for common sense advice: If you’re using a sterile mask to protect yourself in a global pandemic, maybe keep it tethered to your person and away from contaminants! Osmond’s little friends at the Children’s Miracle Network provided her with the answer. “These kids know me and they were worried about me, and so they made these chains,” she recalls. “I love always having them on my neck, and now you can buy them. They can take glasses too. But they’re really cute, and they’re kind of like jewelry.”
“The other thing that I think...you must have is stress balls,” Osmond says, and who can disagree? Kind of a no-brainer that stress relief would be helpful during these trying, uncertain times. And by “no-brainer” I mean a way to dispel mental anxiety through repetitively soothing physical motion. Turns out Osmond has another reason for loving Beadeez’s colorful orbs. “I’m ADD, and they keep me focused.”
Speaking of comforting: What soothes the stressed-out soul more than chocolate? Even better when said treat is vegetarian-friendly and features natural cocoa and “a hint of caramel.” As the brand’s celebrity spokesperson, Osmond’s no stranger to Nutrisystem quality. “People ask me, ‘Why are you still doing this after 14 years?’ Because it changed my life,” she says. “It’s no longer about losing weight; it’s about staying healthy. I’m addicted.”
How ‘bout a soothing hot beverage to go with all that chocolatey goodness? Osmond makes teatime “me” time with this adorable Jardin gift set from the folks at Tea Forte, which includes five tea varieties (Chamomile Citron, Chocolate Rose, Green Mango Peach, Strawberry Hibiscus and Vanilla Pear). “They come in these cute little packages,” she says, “and you get this little mug. It has a little hole in the top, so it keeps it warm…and it’s so cute!!”
Think you’re the only one who looks all business up top during Zoom meetings while keeping your off-camera self couch-ready? Osmond’s hip: “We always dress from the neck up, but on the bottom half you want to be comfy.” She’s found Beyond Yoga’s light, stylish joggers an all-purpose godsend. “You will live in them, you will sleep in them, you will go to the grocery story with them,” she says. “If you haven’t heard of this brand, get these because they’re really awesome.”
