Amazon to Debut a ‘Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ Edition of the Game of Life

For those who dream of making it big as a stand-up comic, Amazon has got a way to give those dreams a test run. Hasbro and Amazon Prime are collaborating to debut a “Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” themed edition of the Game of Life board game.

Available for pre-order on Amazon now, the game is set to be released on Nov. 15, a few weeks ahead of the show’s third season premiere on Dec. 6.

Here is the official product description: “Inspired by Midge Maisel’s life in the Amazon Original Series, The Game of Life: The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Edition board game has players seeking fame and fortune during 1950s New York City. Maybe you’ll get married, have kids, buy a dream home, go on vacation in the Catskills, and make it as a stand-up comic. Then again, maybe you won’t. You could get divorced, bomb at the jokes, and end up in a dumpy apartment. Choose a path and find out what life has in store for you. The player with the most money at the end of the game wins – unless someone hits it big time in comedy!”

The move is no surprise from Amazon Studios, who have become known for elaborating marketing tactics to advertise their most popular shows. In August, just ahead of Emmys season, Amazon sponsored a “Maisel Day” in which select Los Angeles vendors rolled back their prices to what they would have been in 1950. Most notably, one gas station in Santa Monica had cars lined up around the block to get gas at 30 cents a gallon.

The Emmy-nominated comedy stars Rachel Brosnahan as a housewife-turned-standup comic who rises to stardom with the help of her manager and friend Susie Myerson, played by Alex Borstein.
