9:30 p.m. — Previously, on “The Amazing Race”! In the Episode 5, teams raced through Santiago, Chile, beginning with a self-drive in search of Marilyn Monroe’s iconic Thunderbird car. Dating couple Ricky & Cesar came in first for the third week in a row when they reached Phil at the Pit Stop. Cousins Kishori & Karishma hit the mat last and became the fifth team eliminated. Let’s continue the race!

9:35 p.m. — Departing first in Group 1 are Ricky & Cesar and Juan & Shane. They’re instructed to drive to Plaza del Bicentenario to find their next clue. Fifteen minutes later Group 2 leaves, consisting of Amber & Vinny, Angie & Danny and Rod & Leticia. Group 2 appears to have an alliance as Amber says, “Let’s just all follow Danny,” and tells Rod & Leticia not to lose them.

9:40 p.m. — Ricky & Cesar find the clue first. It’s a Detour. In “Bicecleta,” teams will use a modern, stationary bike connected to a small grinder to grind up plastic bottles. Once they fill a container, they’ll get a clue. In “Boleadora,” teams will get 10 attempts for each of them to wrap a boleadora around a moving target. Riding a stationary bike would be the obvious choice to me, but both Ricky & Cesar and Juan & Shane choose “Boleadora.” I’m shocked to see everyone from Group 2 choose the same Detour. Doesn’t anyone else think riding a stationary bike seems like the easiest possible challenge? Ricky quickly finds out how difficult the Detour is when he misses all 10 of his first attempts. Later, Group 3 finally takes off on this leg, including Yvonne & Melissa, Sunny & Elizabeth and Derek & Shelisa.

9:50 p.m. — Yvonne & Melissa find their destination, but Sunny & Elizabeth and Derek & Shelisa are lost, putting them in the back of the pack. Why is everyone choosing “Boleadora”? After watching the first two teams struggle, everyone that left in Group 2 wisely chooses to switch Detours. Still, with their 15 minute advantage, Juan & Shane complete the difficult “Boleadora” task and take off in first place. They’ll drive to Circuito Lobo Race to find their next clue. Ricky & Cesar are next to finish just as Derek & Shelisa arrive at the Detour, meaning Sunny & Elizabeth are in last place. Once they firefighters do arrive, they choose the bikes. While the biking task looks physically taxing, Rod beast modes his way through it and he and Leticia take off in third place.

10:00 p.m. — The alliance continues to work together. As Angie & Danny and Amber & Vinny complete the Detour, Rod & Leticia have already worked out the mapping for everyone so they can continue to the next clue. Teamwork makes the dream work! At least until someone gets eliminated. Over at “Boleadora,” Shelisa quickly finds out she’s a better thrower than her husband, which is pretty entertaining to watch. Yvonne & Melissa finish before them in sixth place. After Derek’s repeated failures, he and Shelisa switch Detours and head over to the bikes.

10:15 p.m. — Despite leaving in second place, Ricky & Cesar arrive to the clue first. These two are tough! Clearly the navigation skills are making all the difference. In this Roadblock called “Who’s Got a Good Sense of Direction?” one team member will team up with a professional race car driver and memorize a complex sequence of turns on a 1.5 mile course. Then, they’ll re-create the course on a board. Juan & Shane reach the Roadblock second, followed by the three-team alliance. Meanwhile, back at the Detour Sunny & Elizabeth finish the recycle bike, leaving Derek & Shelisa in last place. Back up at the Roadblock, Juan makes quick work of the map, knocking it out in one attempt! Impressive. They’re now back in first place and head to Estadio Francisco Cabases to find their next clue. Ricky completes the task on his fourth attempt, keeping himself and Cesar in second place.

10:25 p.m. — Yvonne & Melissa have made up some ground and now everyone is at the Roadblock except Juan & Shane and Ricky & Cesar, who have completed it, and Derek & Shelisa, who are in last place. Angie is growing frustrated and hot — she takes a break because she feels sick and the medics take a look at her and make sure she’s hydrated. Danny tries to calm her down as she tells him they should just take the penalty — which is four hours. After taking her time, Angie hops back in the car like a trooper. Meanwhile, Amber finishes the Roadblock, sending her and Vinny on their way in third place. After reading the clue, Amber begins to cry and says she can’t leave Angie behind. She waits for Angie to get out of her car again and walks her through building the map. The alliance strikes again! After helping Angie, Amber heads over to help Leticia so they can all leave together. Wow! I’ve never seen this much dedication in an “Amazing Race” alliance before. Following quickly behind them are both Yvonne & Melissa and Sunny & Elizabeth. It’s starting to look like Derek & Shelisa are sitting ducks this leg.

10:30 p.m. — Juan & Shane reach the next Roadblock in first place. In “Who Wants to Score?” one team member must join a bubble soccer team and score a goal against their opponent. Shane made quick work of the challenge and they headed to their next clue. Once there, they find the next Detour. In “Who Did It?” teams must find a fingerprint and compare it to other prints on file. When they find a match they’ll identify a suspect and get a clue. In “What’s Your Beef?” teams must correctly place 14 cuts of beef on a board to receive their next clue. Juan & Shane choose to identify cuts of beef.

10:45 p.m. — Ricky & Cesar finish the Roadblock in second place and head out to the next Detour. Meanwhile, Sunny & Elizabeth have finally caught a break in their navigation skills and reach the Roadblock before the three-team alliance. Yvonne & Melissa are next, moving them up to fourth place. Elizabeth scores a goal first and she and Sunny head to the next Detour, quickly followed by Yvonne & Melissa. Meanwhile, Juan & Shane finish their Detour and race to meet Phil at the Plaza de San Martin Pit Stop. Can they stay ahead of Ricky & Cesar? Way back at the Roadblock, Derek finally finishes up and he and Shelisa race to the next clue, hoping they haven’t been left completely in the dust.

11:00 p.m. — The three-team alliance has reached the next Roadblock. Competing for each team are Rod, Amber and Angie. Once Rod takes one good hit and falls to the ground, the former NFL star takes the gloves off and just pummels the competition, quickly scoring a goal. Meanwhile, poor Angie looks terrified. Up at the Detour, Yvonne & Melissa and Sunny & Elizabeth decide they may as well form an alliance of their own at this point and decide to work together. Amber and Angie both finally score goals and head to the next Detour. Up at the Pit Stop, Juan & Shane finally break Ricky & Cesar’s winning streak, taking first place and winning $5,000 each. See full results of this leg of the race below. Meanwhile, the alliance of three reaches the next Detour and decides to work together again, each memorizing certain cuts of beef. They take over all the stations, blocking Yvonne & Melissa and Sunny & Elizabeth from finishing. Once they all complete the challenge they head to the Pit Stop. Derek & Shelisa just couldn’t catch a break. They hit the mat last, becoming the next team eliminated from the race.

2. Ricky & Cesar
3. Rod & Leticia
4. Amber & Vinny
5. Angie & Danny
