Amanda Seyfried Shares a Rare Throwback Photo Showing Her Breastfeeding Her Daughter

Time flies when you’re a mama and, before you know it, that baby you just gave birth to is walking. A little sentimentality is a given, no? One Hollywood mama is definitely in her feels — Amanda Seyfried shared a rare throwback breastfeeding photo, and the meaning behind the social media moment is even sweeter than you might realize at first glance.

The Art of Racing in the Rain actress is generally pretty guarded when it comes to glimpses of her now-2-year-old daughter Nina (with husband Thomas Sadoski). But on Thursday, Seyfried posted a snapshot that seems to have been taken the day Nina was born. In the photo, Seyfried sits in bed breastfeeding her daughter as her older sister Jennifer sits with her. “tbt with my sister on my favorite day,” Seyfried simply captioned the nostalgic picture.

So, why share the image now? Well, for one thing, August is National Breastfeeding Awareness Month. But we suspect it has everything to do with the fact Seyfried’s sister-slash-built-in-BFF is now expecting her first daughter. In a recent interview with People, Seyfried revealed that, in addition to being aunt, she’ll have another special role in the little girl’s life. “I’m her doula. That’s going to be my second doula experience — the first one was with a stranger.”

Seyfried also admitted to people that her niece is due at the end of November but the actress is “hoping that she has the baby on Dec. 3.” ICYMI, that’s Seyfried’s birthday which, c’mon, would be a cool connection between the two.

Regardless, it’s readily apparent that Seyfried can’t wait for the little one to make her big debut. On Wednesday, Seyfried alluded to the new addition to the family with a photo of her hugging her sis outside of an ice cream parlor. “Sister’s got my niece in her belly. I hope our daughters are even tighter,” she wrote. Seyfried even recently gave a sneak peek at what their daughters might look like when they’re a bit older by sharing a photo of the sisters when they were children.

If you’re wondering whether Seyfried plans to have any more cousins for her new niece, the answer is yes… at some point. “I want to get pregnant again, but I’m not ready just yet to have a second,” she told People. “I would like my daughter to be in school and then have my own time with a new baby. But it’s so hard to plan.”
