The parallels between Amanda Seyfried’s work life and home life are starting to blur.

The actress shares daughter Nina and son Thomas with her husband Thomas Sadoski, and she admitted that ever since she became a mother, the roles she’s offered have shifted.

“In my career, it’s still a bit new to play a mother. It seems like once I popped out a baby, I was just playing mothers,” Seyfried, 38, said during a press conference for her upcoming film Seven Veils at the Berlin Film Festival, Variety reported. “And that’s Hollywood for you.”

The Dropout star said, though, that despite her trajectory shifting in terms of what kinds of opportunities she’s getting, there’s still a lot of good coming her way.

“I do think that the roles have become way richer and definitely challenging in ways that I didn’t have earlier in my career,” she continued, elaborating on how her role as theater director and struggling mother Jeanine in Seven Veils did just that.

“I felt like Jeanine, specifically as a mother, trying to figure out where she stands in her life as a parent and as a wife who is so on the precipice of separating from her husband — she’s kind of hanging on a thread everywhere and not being taken as seriously as she’d like to in her career, just wanting more.”

Seyfried added that her character is “very human, and she’s dealing with things as they come and she’s not a perfect person.”

“I loved showing sides of her that weren’t attractive. I think that’s really necessary in any story, because none of us are perfect.”

The Emmy winner previously spoke to PEOPLE about how she juggles life as a mother of six-year-old Nina and three-year-old Thomas with her impressive career. Reflecting on her time filming The Crowded Room for Apple TV+, she shared that she had her daughter “on set quite a bit.”

“She just knows how much I love my job and she knows I can be a good mom and a present artist,” Seyfried said on the red carpet of the show’s premiere in New York City.

"She would sit in the dressing with my assistant and draw. I mean, the whole wall in my dressing room was covered in drawings from my daughter," she continued. "It was really nice. I love merging the two lives together, I love when my family comes to work. You know, I felt really lucky that I was able to do that."

Her daughter has also expressed some interest in following in her parents’ footsteps. Seyfried told PEOPLE at the 2022 Emmys that she would be putting her award in Nina’s room before sharing that her daughter’s got her eyes on a career in acting — which she would “totally” support.

"My husband's like, 'I'm terrified,’ ” she admitted of Sadoski, 47.

"And I was like, 'Let her do what she's going to do. She's a f---ing child of actors. What do you expect?' ”
