When the original Mean Girls movie was released back in 2004, it became an instant pop culture classic. So, fast-forward 20 years later, it’s no surprise that the story is being rebooted to a whole new generation of fans in the newest Mean Girls musical movie, out in theaters today!

And while only a few actors reprise their roles in the new version, including the movies’ creator Tina Fey and actor Tim Meadows, stars from the original movie have been open about showing their support. At the premiere earlier this week, for example, Lindsay Lohan and Daniel Franceze, who played Cady and Damian in the OG movie, were both in attendance.

And, surely enough, shortly after, Amanda Seyfried also showed her support by posting some adorable pictures with Avantika Vandanapu, the actress who took over her role as Karen in the new movie.

“Karen meet Karen 🎬🎀” she wrote in the Instagram caption. In the photos, Seyfried and Vandanapu both have a confused expression on their faces as they clutch their chest, a reference to Karen’s special talent (telling the weather by grabbing her boobs). “hey i love you so much!” Vandanapu wrote in the comments. How adorable is this friendship?!

Vandanapu also went on to share the photos, captioning them “mother is a karen.”

Prior to the sweet meetup, the two shared praises to each other on red carpets recently. “Karen sees the world through a very specific lens and I think she’s going to be amazing,” Seyfried told Entertainment Tonight at the Golden Globes red carpet. “Keep the legacy going,” she continued, “Welcome to the sisterhood.”

A few days later, Vandanapu responded to the comments at the Mean Girls premiere. “I really admire her so much, she’s one of my favorite actresses of all time,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “Karen is my favorite character from Mean Girls and it’s really special and reassuring to hear that from her.” We’re all for this Karen-supporting-Karen friendship!
