True crime adaptations are huge right now and, if you’re a fan, you’re going to want to hear this — Dirty John season two has started filming, with new leads Amanda Peet and Christian Slater already spotted getting into character. The podcast-turned-TV-series has moved from Bravo to USA Network for its second installment, which will tell the tale of what Oprah deemed one of “America’ messiest divorces.” Here’s everything we know about the second installment so far.

Earlier this month, Variety reported that Peet and Slater had signed on to star in the anthology series’ sophomore season. This go-round, the story will center on the real-life marriage of Betty and Dan Broderick (played by Peet and Slater, respectively). Stretching from the ’60s into the ’80s, the second season will explore what went wrong to lead a woman described as the perfect SoCal blonde to murder her handsome college boyfriend-turned-husband. Spoiler alert? It involves Dan hiring a beautiful new blonde assistant.

Obviously, this sounds every bit as addictive as the first season, making it that much more difficult to wait patiently. The bad news on that front is it’s still too early to know when Dirty John: The Betty Broderick Story will air. The good news is that we now know it’s already underway. On Saturday, Sept. 21, Peet and Slater were spotted in Los Angeles filming scenes for the series.

There are several things to be excited about here. The first season of Dirty John, starring Connie Britton and Eric Bana, proved to be a huge ratings-hit. It bodes well for the second installment that they managed to secure another set of bankable, well-liked stars. Peet and Slater? That’s a killer combo (pun intended).

Also, it’s worth noting that the second season features an all-female directing team. Original creator-writer Alexandra Cunningham is back on board, and will executive producing alongside Jessica Rhoades, season one’s Britton, Atlas Entertainment and Los Angeles Times Studios. Maggie Kiley (Riverdale) will serve as director and also co-executive produce. Additional directors include Kate Candler (Queen Sugar), Meera Menon (The Terror), Shannon Kohli (The Magicians) and Cunningham.

And, finally, it’s worth getting psyched about the fact that Peet and Slater have already started filming. Is it possible we could see Dirty John‘s second season premiere in the spring? Here’s hoping.
