Amanda Kloots says Nick Cordero had a 'great day,' was 'more alert' in Father's Day update

Amanda Kloots had a positive update on husband Nick Cordero's health journey for Father's Day.

The fitness instructor took to her Instagram Story Sunday to share a happy update about the Broadway star, 41, who has been in the hospital for more than 80 days due to complications from COVID-19.

Kloots was able to see her husband at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles for the first time on Friday due to to coronavirus safety guidelines and visitor restrictions. Cordero regained consciousness in May and has since tested negative for COVID-19, but remains in the ICU in a precarious state.

"So I'm leaving my visit with Nick and he was having such a great day actually. He was more alert than I've seen him in a little while and he was really following his eyes a lot," she explained.

Cordero is awake, but he cannot move or talk. Instead, he communicates with his eyes, Kloots previously explained.

She also explained that she started a tradition where she plays and sings "Our House" by Crosby, Stills & Nash to Cordero before leaving.

She said the song was "apropos" because it was written in Laurel Canyon, "not far from the house that we bought."

"Then I say a big prayer and I hold his hand and I give him a kiss and I just tell him that we will live together in our house one day. And just keep fighting," she said.

Earlier Sunday, Kloots shared photos and video of baby Elvis, the couple's one-year-old son, playing with his grandpa. Kloots also shared a "Father's Day Nick story" about when the then-newborn wouldn't stop crying for hours.

"Nick and I managed to not get mad at each other – and if you're a new parent and you have a screaming baby, you know what a feat that is," she recounted. "And we finally, finally got Elvis down and the next morning, we looked at each other and we were like, 'welcome to being a parent.' "
