The Alpine Valley Music Theatre paid tribute to Jimmy Buffett following news of his death on Sept. 1.

Buffett's connection to the East Troy amphitheater dates to 1977, the venue's first year. Since then, Buffett has played 27 times at Alpine Valley, bringing hits like "Margaritaville," "Cheeseburger in Paradise" and "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere" to sold-out crowds many summers. His last show at Alpine Valley was Aug. 20, 2022.

"He brought so many people together and created memories we will forever cherish," the theater said in a Facebook post, showcasing a clip from his 2015 show.

Buffett had been battling Merkel cell skin cancer for four years and had to cancel several shows, most notably his Summerfest appearance this summer. He performed his last show, a surprise appearance, in Rhode Island in early July. He was 76.
