Allison Janney was a winner in more ways than one at the 2018 Golden Globe Awards. On Sunday night, the actress took home the award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in I, Tonya, wearing a stunning cut-out Mario Dice dress.

The 58-year-old actress followed the black dress code to protest sexual harassment in the entertainment industry and beyond. While the color can often be bland and somber, Janney’s look was anything but. The top of her gown featured sheer cutouts in a standout geometric pattern with white patches.

She accessorized simply with a snake ring and simple earrings.

But it was what she wore onstage to present an award with her costar Sebastian Stan, that was the real standout. As a nod to her character in the Tonya Harding film, in which she plays the skater’s mother LaVona Fay Golden, Janney had a fake bird placed on her shoulder.

Golden often carried a bird on her own shoulder during interviews following her daughter’s debacle. Janney’s own bird named ‘Little Man’ received quite the reaction. However, between her win, her dress, her drinking, and the bird’s onstage appearance, it’s difficult to choose just one moment that deemed her the winner of the night.

The star’s win pleasantly surprised fans, as she’s been nominated five times prior for her roles in The West Wing and Mom. Janney’s fans were also appreciative of her speaking out on the red carpet about her reason for wearing a black dress. The actress mentioned that she was standing in solidarity with both the women and men affected by the #MeToo movement and the momentum of #TimesUp.
