Allison Janney knows fans of The West Wing are anxious to see a return of the Bartlet administration.

The actress, 64, who played press secretary C.J. Cregg in Aaron Sorkin's hit NBC series, addresses the rumor of a possible reunion in last week's issue of PEOPLE. "I always want it to be [true], and [costar] Josh Malina always puts that out there," she says.

But sadly, Janney says, "I don’t think Aaron’s going to ever do that. If anything, it should be a reboot with a whole new administration. Such a fairy tale it ended up being. My God, that was a big life-changer for me, being on that show."

To this day, the cast that included Martin Sheen as President Jed Bartlet, still keeps in touch — and has a group chat.

"Yeah, there’s a big text chain with all of us on it," Janney says. "And there’s always a conversation going on, and it’s always hysterical between Brad Whitford and Josh. They always spar and jab at each other, which is endlessly amusing to all of us. And we see Martin a lot and go out to have lunch with him. We really are a family and have stayed one."

Now starring as a colorful 1960s socialite in Apple TV+'s new comedy Palm Royale, Janney insists a perfect day off from work entails "waking up with no meetings, nothing to do," she says. "And I have my three dogs. I would go out for a hike with them and come back and eat something fabulous."

Though not a big cook, Janney is a homebody. "I love to just be in my home and watch movies, have people over who do cook to cook for me and play board games," she adds. "That’s all I need. That’s all I want."
