Allen Iverson Debuts “Iverson ’01” Cannabis Strain

After Allen Iverson solidified his reputation in the game of basketball, he’s ready to continue making his mark in other industries. The 48-year-old has partnered with Viola to present a special weed strain, and doing so in style as he pays homage to his career along the way.
The initiative came to life courtesy of a collaboration with the former NBA player Al Harrington’s cannabis company and the brand’s Keystone State rollout. Named “Iverson ’01,” the product can now be found in New Jersey and Pennsylvania exclusively at RISE locations. It’s also available with various retailers in Michigan, Arizona, and The FLOWERY in Florida.
Viola’s official website provides details about the release, with the official description reading, “Following the success of ”96,’ the Iverson Collection peaks high performance with the latest ”01′ indica-dominant hybrid strain. Marking the year that the NBA Hall of Famer, Allen Iverson, was named MVP, ”01′ is a euphoric variety with signature hops that put it to the top of the roster of game-winning highs. Recognized for its super frosty mugs, dark shades of purple, and citrusy scent, ”01′ is unmatched.”
This isn’t the former Sixers player’s first time releasing his own weed strain, as he partnered with Harrington in 2021 for “Iverson ‘96.” That line paid homage to the year Third Degree was drafted into the NBA.
In addition to his exceptional athletic ability, the NBA All-Star is well-known for his trendsetting ways on and off the court. The basketball legend recently explained his stance on why he always chose to unapologetically show up as his authentic self.
“I always wanted to stay true to myself, who I am. I didn’t feel like there was anything wrong with being me. What’s wrong with being you? Everybody else taken up,” he stated in an interview with GQ. “I got a bad rap in the beginning because people just didn’t understand, and it was something they’ve never seen before.”
