‘Alive And Kicking’ Trailer: SXSW Docu Chronicles Swing Dance Subculture
EXCLUSIVE: Born out of the Great Depression, swing dancing remains a beloved pastime that every so often flares up in renewed popularity – as it did for instance in the 1990s as featured in the Jon Favreau-penned 1996 romantic comedy Swingers. It’s still going on in fact, as chronicled in Susan Glatzer’s aptly-titled documentary Alive And Kicking that was purchased in January by Blumhouse. The film is playing South By Southwest 2016 and in advance of that, we’ve got an exclusive trailer right here. Alive and Kicking treats audiences to an intimate, insider’s view of the culture of the current swing dance world while shedding light on issues facing modern American society.

Alive and Kicking is playing Sunday, March 13 at 1:45 PM at the Stateside Theatre, Monday, March 14 at 4:45 PM at the Rollins Theatre at the Long Center, and Wednesday, March 16 at 3:15 PM once again at the Stateside.
Produced by Glazer and executive produced by Blumhouse’s Jason Blum and Robert Rippberger, the dancers featured in the film include Evita Arce, Emelie DecaVita, Rebecka DecaVita, Stephen Sayer, Chandrae Roettig, Frankie Manning, Norma Miller, Dawn Hampton, Dorry Segev, and Sommer Gentry. Glazer previously worked as a film executive in both major and indie film companies and was involved with such films as Traffic, Napoleon Dynamite, Secrets & Lies, Narc, Breaking the Waves and High Art, among others.
