Alison Sweeney Will Return to ‘Days of Our Lives’

Watch out, Salem; Alison Sweeney is booking a return visit.

Sweeney, who departed “Days of Our Lives” in 2014 after more than 20 years on the daytime drama, is returning to the series, albeit temporarily.

The actress, who played Sami Brady on “Days,” told Soap Opera Digest on Monday that she will film new episodes of the show in May and June.

Sweeney, who’s returning for a limited story arc, said that she needed to find a way to juggle her “Days” return with other projects.

“From my end, it takes a little bit of logistics with projects I’m working on,” Sweeney said. “And unfortunately, this year’s been hard for me because of my knee injury, so I had to push some stuff back. So, I figured out a schedule, blocked out some time that I had available and we figured it out! I’ll be shooting in Salem in May and June.”

Sweeney announced her departure from the series in January 2014, noting that she’d been on the series since she was 16 and had “never had more than a two-week vacation in that whole time.”

“I love Sami, I love Salem, I love my job, I love daytime, I love the fans, I love everything about it, but … I just have worked so much, and my daughter had just turned five and my son is nine and I just want to be with them,” Sweeney added.

Since departing “Days,” Sweeney has starred in a number of TV movies, including Hallmark’s “Murder, She Baked” movie series and “The Irresistible Blueberry Farm.”
