"Because I loved her just the way she was," Brie says of her character.

Troy and Abed have a script! That's the latest update on the long-awaited Community movie, Alison Brie revealed on Monday.

Appearing on Watch What Happens Live, Brie was asked when the movie will start shooting. "I have no idea," she told host Andy Cohen. "But we got a script, which is a major update."

It's not exactly a trailer, but Community fans have waited since 2015 for creator Dan Harmon to make good on Abed's oft-repeated promise to add a movie to the show's six-season run.

"I've read [the script]," Brie continued with a playful smile, "and it's funny."

The conversation began after a fan wrote into the show to ask what Brie hopes will happen to her character, Annie Edison, in the movie. "I hope that Annie hasn't changed too much," she replied, "because I loved her just the way she was."

Harmon and the show's stars have teased details of the forthcoming movie for a long, long time. All the promises coalesced in September 2022, when Harmon announced that there would be a movie on Peacock.

At that time, it was announced that the movie would feature many of the show's primary stars, including Joel McHale, Danny Pudi, Gillian Jacobs, Jim Rash, Ken Jeong, and Brie. Donald Glover later revealed that he is also in. Jeong also revealed on The Tonight Show that Yvette Nicole Brown will return as well.

Notably absent from the list is Chevy Chase, who has a long-standing, public feud with the show and McHale (among others). Other side characters like John Oliver's Ian Duncan, Keith David's Elroy Patashnik, or Paget Brewster's Frankie Dart remain a mystery.
