Alicia Keys Gives Personal Serenade to ‘Voice’ Contestant

Alicia Keys pulled out all the stops on The Voice Tuesday night to lure a Los Angeles native onto her team. Lilli Passero, a 26-year-old from Studio City, came out during the second night of auditions and sang “A Love of My Own” by Carla Thomas.

Blake Shelton was the first one to turn his chair, but Gwen Stefani and Alicia Keys soon followed. Blake was bummed out by the girls hitting their red buttons, and he had every right to be. Alicia was “Fallin'” in love with Lilli, and she showed her just how much with a personal serenade.

Right before Adam Levine was going to ask Lilli who she wanted as her coach, Alicia stopped him and asked if she could do one last thing. Alicia then burst into an impromptu serenade, singing, “Oh, Lilli, let me tell you something. If you would pick me as your coach,” Alicia continued as Lilli stood on the stage in shock, “I could tell you how to put your feelings on your sleeve, tell everybody just what you mean.”

Lilli, obviously, chose Alicia as her coach after the performance, saying, “I had to choose Alicia. She sang me a song!”

The Voice airs Thursday at 8 p.m. on NBC.
