Alicia Keys Delivers Surprise Performance in London Train Station

Alicia Keys showed commuters love in London.

The "Girl on Fire" singer, 42, delivered a surprise performance in a London train station on Monday morning, per Reuters.

Keys played a string of her hits on a piano donated by Sir Elton John in 2016 at St. Pancras International Station, per Rolling Stone.

The 15-time Grammy winner — who was in town over the weekend to headline Capital's Jingle Bell Ball at the O2 Arena in London — performed her 2009 smash "Empire State of Mind" to a cheering crowd, adjusting the lyrics from “now you’re in New York,” to “now you’re in London.” She then played classics like “If I Ain't Got You” and “No One," as well as her latest single, “Lifeline.”

Fans recorded footage of the performance and posted to X (formerly known as Twitter).

"Imagine getting in a lift at @StPancrasInt and seeing @aliciakeys at the piano 😅😍🥰 #london #aliciakeys," one user wrote alongside a clip of them in an elevator arriving to Keys' performance.

Another fan posted a close-up video of Keys belting at the piano with the caption, "So @aliciakeysjust rocked up at @StPancrasIntTrain Station and played some of her biggest hits. Maddd #aliciakeys #legend."

The R&B musician recently celebrated the 20th anniversary of her sophomore album The Diary of Alicia Keys with a 24-track re-release via Legacy Recordings featuring the vault track “Golden Child."

She also commemorated the occasion with a special performance in New York City at Webster Hall on Dec. 1.

Hell's Kitchen, Keys' semi-autobiographical musical will move from Off Broadway to Broadway’s Shubert Theater on March 28, 2024, with opening night slated for April 20, 2024, per Deadline.

Kristoffer Diaz has written the book, while Keys is behind the score. The show features the "Fallin'" artist's hits like “You Don’t Know My Name,” “Fallin’,” “If I Ain’t Got You,” “No One” and “Empire State of Mind" and more.

“Good things take time and for 13 years, I’ve been dreaming, developing and finding inspiration for a musical based on my experience growing up in Hell’s Kitchen, NYC,” Keys said in a statement. “I’m honored to be a part of this Broadway season with so much incredible talent and great stories. I grew up with musical theater and have so many memories of standing on line at TKTS to see shows like Miss Saigon and Rent. For me, Hell’s Kitchen is also a New York story of finding your dreams and for me, this musical coming to Broadway is the embodiment of that idea.”
