THE BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) – A massive “Alice in Wonderland”-themed exhibit combining floral displays and contemporary artwork is set to open at the New York Botanical Garden this weekend.

“Wonderland: Curious Nature” is a new exhibit inspired by Lewis Carroll’s “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” and the book’s sequel, “Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There.” It will be spread out across the New York Botanical Garden’s 250 acres in the Bronx.

The “Wonderland” exhibit will feature “a magnificent flower show, contemporary art installations, engaging daytime programming, fantastical tea parties, and exciting night experiences,” according to the New York Botanical Garden.

The exhibit opens on Saturday and will run through Oct. 27, 2024.

In addition to the flowers and art, the exhibit will include special programming throughout its months-long run.

A garden party will be held this weekend to celebrate the exhibit’s opening. The event will feature “Alice in Wonderland”-themed tea and crumpets, croquette, other lawn games and more. The garden parties will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday at the New York Botanical Garden’s Daffodil Hill.

Wonderland Nights, an evening event for adults 21 and older, will feature staged performances and cocktails. Wonderland Nights will be held on June 1, 8, and 15, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. A special ticket is required.

“Wonderland: Curious Nature” was organized by curator and scholar Jennifer Gross. The exhibit features artwork from FoldHaus Art Collective, Carsten Höller, Patrick Jacobs, Andre Kong Studio, Abelardo Morell, Yoko Ono, Beverly Semmes, Alyson Shotz, Agus Putu Suyadnya, and Paula Wilson.
