Alia Bhatt on Ranbir Kapoor’s toxic remarks and his thoughts on trolls on Koffee With Karan season 8

The controversy started when, in an October interview, Alia disclosed that Ranbir would suggest she ‘wipe off’ her lipstick. Because he preferred her natural lip color. This seemingly innocent remark triggered a storm of online criticism. And, netizens quickly branded Ranbir as a ‘toxic’ partner.

Karan Johar known for his knack for delving into celebrity controversies, probed Alia more about the controversy that had been simmering for weeks. Alia connected the uproar to Ranbir’s absence from social media, explaining because of that people grab on fast.

She further clarified, “I have a very candid way of speaking. So even when I am talking about anything in my life, I like to imitate the person that I am talking about. I like to give anecdotes. I like to make it personal.”

Addressing the ‘explosion online’, Alia expressed her surprise and frustration at the misinterpretation of her comments. She revealed, “There are many issues in the world to talk about and give more attention towards than talking about something that I said in a completely different context.”

She further emphasized that Ranbir is often misunderstood. And, he is the opposite of how he is being painted as to be. Alia also shared Ranbir’s take on it saying, “Ranbir also says that the audience owns you, they can say whatever the hell they want to, as long as your movies are doing well. Please do not complain, just sit in your apartment in Bandra.”

However, that wasn’t the only thing discussed. Alia Bhatt shared her thoughts on motherhood, Ranbir’s relationship with their daughter Raha, and whether she considers Deepika Padukone as her competition.
